"The three-masted Meridien caught in the storm". Oil on canvas. Signed bottom right “Jules Caron Bx”. Some craquelure; restored original frame with an original cartouche (plaque) entitled “Le Méridien de Nantes, Cre, FK, St Hobkirk”. 
 
"The three-masted Meridien" from a three-quarter front angle, sailing at a beautiful pace with lowered rigging. Oil on canvas. Signed bottom right “Jules Caron Bx”. Some craquelure; re-Lined. Restored original frame with an original cartouche entitled “Le Méridien de Nantes, Cre, FK, St Hobkirk”. 
 
Jules Caron mainly practiced in Arcachon and Bordeaux. Some of his works are stored in national museums.
 
* "Bx" at the end of the signature typically is interpreted as "Sincerely".
* "Nantes" is a town in Southwestern France.
