Description: The Thomas P. Emigh was a wooden hulled four masted barquentine built in Tacoma, Washington in 1901. She was significantly involved in the Australian lumber trade, making frequent trips from Australia to the American west coast.
She was a noted sailor setting several records including a 7 day, 22 hour passage from Honolulu to Cape Flattery in 1909.

Artist Profile: James Brereton was primarily self taught but did study at the Joseph Wright Art School in Derby. He is known for his paintings of historical shipping scenes as well as coastal and harbour scenes.  In the 1980’s and 1990’s he exhibited regularly at the Royal Society of Marine Artist’s shows. Brereton is listed in The Dictionary of Sea Painters of Europe and America, by E.H.H. Archibald.
